February – March Class Schedule

February

  • 6th – Needle Felting with KnitKnit,  $40 + $10 materials fee. Learn to make soft creatures, pendants, ornaments, or anything you like by “sculpting” with wool and a special felting needle. We’re hosting Nguyen Le, a fiber artist whose work has received national coverage, as the instructor for this class.
  • 13th – Embroidery with Cal Patch,  $40 + $5 materials fee. Learn the basics of embroidery with crafter and maker extrordinaire Cal Patch. Practice your new skills on an original Valentine’s Day pattern created by Cal Patch of Hodge Podge Farm.
  • 20th – Knitting Class: Superstar Hat with Jill Draper, $25 + optional materials fee. Afraid to use circulars or double points? This super easy hat is knit sideways on 2 needles with one seam. Even if you are a hat knitting pro, this is a fun twist on the classic cap.
  • 27th – Soap Making For Kids with Meow Meow Tweet, $30 + $5 materials fee. Bring the kids in to learn to make soap with Tara and Jeff, who make the luscious Meow Meow Tweet line of soaps.

March

  • 6th – Knit a Giant Cable Scarf with Jill Draper, $25 + optional materials fee. Perfect for Winter in the Hudson Valley, this scarf is warm, long & surprisingly easy to make. You do not need to know how to cable to take this class. You should be able to knit & purl in the same row before taking this class.
  • 13thBookbinding with Thunderwing Press, $40 + $10 materials fee, 5:30-9:30pm. Learn to make your own books with Nic Taylor, one half of Garrison’s Thunderwing Press.
  • 20th – Jewelry Making with Kids. $30 + $10 materials fee. Kids will have a great time learning to create their own wire-wrapped jewelry with Brooklyn designer Mary Anne Loverme. Minimum age 10 years old, maximum of 8 kids.
  • 27th – Knitting 101. $40 + optional materials fee. Never picked up a knitting needle before? We’ll get you started in this 2-hour class. You’ll learn to cast on, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, and get going on a simple project—and get the pattern to take home!

About Our Classes

All classes are held from 10:30am-12:30pm unless otherwise noted.

A 50% deposit is required to hold your place in a class. Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the class in order to receive store credit for your deposit.

Learn to Make Your Own Cards!

Whether you’re celebrating a birthday or just saying hello, it’s always more personal and more fun to send a card that you made yourself. Come by the store this Saturday morning to learn some card-making techniques that will have you producing your own line of paper goods in no time. Kelly and Jon will be at the helm, teaching you the basics of collage, stamping, and more. You’ll even learn to carve stamps of your own original designs.

When: Saturday January 23rd, 10:30am–12:30pm
Where: Clay Wood & Cotton, 149 Main St.

Who: This is a great class for adults, teens, and older kids. 10+ welcome with an adult, 13+ welcome solo. Limit 8 people per class.

Cost: $30, including materials

Bookbinding! Needle Felting! Soap! Winter Classes at CWAC

We’ve put together an amazing lineup of Saturday classes to help you beat the winter blues. Create something with yarn, paper or wool!

We’re offering our first class for kids, Soap Making with the geniuses behind Meow Meow Tweet on February 27th. We’ll have more in March, including Jewelry Making and Monster Making.

January

  • Bookbinding with Thunderwing Press, 1/16, 5:30-9:30pm. Learn to make your own books with Nic Taylor, one half of Garrison’s Thunderwing Press. RESCHEDULED – CHECK BACK FOR NEW DATE.
  • Make Your Own Greeting Cards, 1/23, Kelly and Jon will teach you to use fun techniques like collage and stamping to create your very own line of cards! This is a great class for teens and older artsy kids as well— 10 and over welcome with a grown-up, 13 and over welcome solo.
  • Crochet 101, 1/30. Never picked up a crochet hook before? We’ll get you started in this 2-hour class. You’ll learn the basic stitches and get going on a simple project—and get the pattern to take home!
