Karen's Monsters

Karen's Monsters

Karen Goetsch lives with her husband and cat in California's Bay Area. She spends hours with her old Singer Sewing Machine each day creating monsters. When not sewing, she likes to sketch, hula hoop, make her cat dance, and play capoeira. It's something of a dream to be able to create all day long and play with toys for a living.

Karen strives to make unique toys for all ages that inspire the imagination. She acknowledges the need for fun toys that push the boundaries of familiar. There's no art degree in Karen's back pocket, only a long line of art classes and a history of creating. Although she resisted learning to sew from her wildly talented mother, young Karen made doll clothes (stapling them together), built houses and cities out of packaging and covered all blank paper in drawings. Now with a strangely appropriate degree in Anthropology, she proudly shows off her creations to her surprised and supportive family.
